Otaku Anime Summer Field Trip

Seems we've been doing a lot of this recently. Here's a place for it

Otaku Anime Summer Field Trip

Postby KholdStare » Mon Apr 26, 2010 9:00 pm

Hello, all! Leon here!!

We would like to have something to take place on July 10th, but we're not quite sure what?? What are some suggestions as to what you'd like to do?? What do you think we should avoid?? Remember, let's keep it anime related if possible, and as PG as we can (So no outings to Deja Vu)...

[Edit: un-stickifying, now that it's past -- Jon]

Sounds like that could be fun, and no, I don't want to see any male otaku in a two-piece.....

No otaku in full-body casts or hospital burn wards either, please. XD XD XD

I've been sorta thinking something like Metro Beach. Assuming Lake Huron's Bubonic Tide isn't too high on that particular day or anything. I dunno. Are there any other good beaches or water parks around here? There's Rolling Hills out in Washtenaw...

Camping would be fun except that I hate it. Ok, that is a rhetorical overstatement and not at all true. But I don't have any gear, and I sorta doubt that many others would be interested. Plus, hello logistical nightmare. ;;;^>

Canoeing trip, maybe?

lol.. a camping trip would be sooooo hilarious.. alas i know it would turn out horribly lD You can't just toss the little otakus out into the wilderness, you know? ROFL

hm..i like how you (Jon) call Lake Huron's "Bubonic Tide"~ yeah, i hear a lot of local lakes get closed each year due to contamination issues.. heh heh -dry laugh- ^^;; With "water parks" though, i think it'd be worse with that contamination issues.. I've been to a couple before, and I'm personally am not crazy about them. Comparing a lake to a waterpark, I think a lake would actually be more sanitary etc.. Waterparks (from my experience and knowledge) are human sess pools and there are TONS of people, even in the winter time.. x.o i've gotten major ear infections as well~ strengthens the sesspool idea~

I'd be more for a natural lake area, but that might just be me.~ We'd get more freedom to do more crap and whatever and not necessarily worry about "getting in trouble" as say, in a waterpark thing-y. Yeah, if you wanted fireworks or bbq stuffs~ that'd be easier as well.

hm~ idk.. but it's good that people have ideas coming! :D

Personally, I think.. uh.. I know we should just incorporate bubble blowing into whatever we decide on! lDD

maybe camping should be considered only if someone owns or could rent a large enough cabin

I like the beach trip idea, because the only camp I do is my personality....

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We really do need suggestions for a field trip that everyone can agree on, very soon.

I second the bubble blowing!
But I'm out of ideas. I'm the winter-loving hermit crab type. Anyone got a backyard for a firepit? Or the cabin idea's good. Here's a few sites I found, but I'm not sure what our budget is or how far to travel.

The last one looks big enough, priced per day, about 20 minutes away. We might hit some scheduling roadblocks though.
Just some random links! \o/

The beach sounds like a good idea for a field trip, though I can't see an army of nerds and geeks storming a beach being a pretty site.
And winter is evil.

I like the Dave and Busters idea. There is no sun, there is no aquatic plant life for me to get direly sick from. Plus there is an Eat & Play deal $15.99 that is an Entree and a card worth 10 bucks to play. The event is a few weeks away plenty of time to scrounge enough cash to go!
